Theodore Orson

Mr. Orson is a co-founder of the Providence, Rhode Island law firm of Orson and Brusini Ltd. He is admitted to the bars of Rhode Island and Massachusetts where he practices in the areas of municipal insolvency, business insolvency and commercial litigation. He has garnered national attention for his work as lead counsel to the Receiver of the City of Central Falls and the State of Rhode Island in the Chapter 9 case of the City of Centrals Falls. He also represents the State of Rhode Island in two pending hospital receiverships. He represents all types of parties to federal bankruptcy cases and state court receivership proceedings, including debtors, creditors and equity security holders. Mr. Orson has been appointed permanent receiver of over 40 Rhode Island companies by the Superior Court of the State of Rhode Island. He has also been appointed ancillary receiver by the superior courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Connecticut. Mr. Orson also lectures throughout the country on Chapter 9 bankruptcy. He graduated from Hampshire College, Amherst, Massachusetts (B.A. 1983) and Northeastern University School of Law, Boston, Massachusetts (J.D., June 1987).

Co-Founder of the firm, Mr. Brusini graduated from the College of the Holy Cross (B.A. 1988) and Cornell Law School (J.D. 1991). He also served as an economic policy intern at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Steve practices in the areas of corporate and business law, commercial transactions, business succession planning, employment law, administrative law, and real estate, and serves as general counsel to a number of Rhode Island and regional entities. He acted as a lobbyist for many years in the Rhode Island General Assembly and has authored numerous statutes and regulations. Steve also mediates business disputes and business aspects of domestic disputes and has received over 120 hours of mediation training, including 40 hours of advanced training at Harvard Law School’s Program on Mediation. He currently serves as Chair of the East Greenwich Planning Board. Steve is admitted to practice in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York, and before the U.S. District Courts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Richard H. Gregory III was born in Bronxville, New York in 1947. A Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude graduate of Amherst College, he subsequently earned a Doctor of Laws (JD) degree with honors from the University of Southern California Law Center in Los Angeles and a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. For six years, Mr. Gregory served as a trial attorney for the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, DC. In this position he represented the United States in tax controversies pending in various United States District Courts. After moving to Rhode Island, Mr. Gregory became a partner and chairman of the Tax Department of Tillinghast Collins & Graham. In 1994 he opened his own office for the practice of law to serve clients in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. He concentrates his practice in estate, tax, business, charitable and protective planning and administration for successful individuals and families. Ms. Harris graduated from Nazareth College (B.S. Business Administration and Marketing, magna cum laude, 2009) and from Roger Williams University School of Law (J.D., 2013). While at Roger Williams University School of Law, Christa was a member of the Moot Court Board and participated in several appellate advocacy competitions, including the Annual Esther Clark Moot Court Competition where she was awarded the “Best Brief Award” by the Rhode Island Supreme Court. Christa was also the Executive Chair of Finance of the Roger Williams University School of Law Moot Court Board, served as the President of the Sports and Entertainment Society at Roger Williams University School of Law and worked as an Assistant Coach for the Roger Williams University Women’s Softball Team.

Lynn Gifford Bria

Lynn Gifford Bria advises clients on estate, trust and philanthropic issues with a focus on preservation and protection of assets for intended beneficiaries. Her clients' plans include wills, trusts, lifetime gifts, charitable trusts and private foundations. She also advises executors and trustees as they navigate complex administration matters.

Lynn previously served as Vice President and Senior Trust Officer at a large banking and investment institution. There she exercised oversight of client accounts including revocable, irrevocable, and charitable trusts. Lynn's work for clients included estate tax planning and analysis of client objectives to plan overall trust accounting, distribution and cash management strategies for multiple generations.

As a member of the Trusts and Estates group at Orson and Brusini, Kristin assists individuals and families with a variety of matters including elder law and Medicaid planning, estate and trust planning, and probate administration. Kristin’s practice also focuses on special needs trust planning, guardianship issues, and cemetery law.

Along with the Litigation group, Kristin handles contested probate, guardianship, and trust matters in courts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Originally hailing from York, Pennsylvania, Kristin obtained her bachelor of arts degree in Crime, Law and Justice from The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. Kristin earned her law degree from The Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island in 2007.

Kristin is currently serving as Vice Chairperson of the Board of Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, in Providence, Rhode Island.

Kristin currently lives in Warwick, Rhode Island with her spouse and two children.

As a member of the Trusts and Estates group at Orson and Brusini, Larry counsels clients in attaining their personal and financial goals in transferring their wealth and values to the next generation. Every family has a different set of circumstances to be considered in their planning and Larry guides his clients through planning options to incorporate these unique circumstances into their estate plan. He prepares wills, trusts and incapacity documents, and advises high net worth clients in sophisticated estate and tax planning, including family limited partnerships and complex trusts.

Larry also handles estate and trust administration, representing fiduciaries in administering estates, trusts, and guardianships. He guides clients through the probate process and prepares estate and gift tax returns. Larry also represents both fiduciaries and beneficiaries in the proper administration of trusts and risk management.

Larry is an Emeritus member of the Zeiterion Theatre Board of Trustees in New Bedford, Massachusetts and is a Member of the Friends Academy Board of Trustees in Dartmouth Massachusetts.

Larry has an LL.M. in taxation from Boston University, and earned his law degree, with honors, as well as a master’s degree in environmental law from Vermont Law School. He earned his bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Rhode Island.

Larry is licensed to practice law in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He lives with his wife, three children and two dogs in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.

Deborah DiNardo, Esq.

Deborah advises individual clients and multiple generations of families how to preserve and protects assets for their intended beneficiaries. This important work includes lessening transfer taxes, both during lifetime and after death, with sophisticated planning techniques such as lifetime gifts to grantor trusts and the use of charitable trusts and private foundations. McConnell, Jr., federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, and The Honorable Maureen McKenna Goldberg, Associate Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court.

Prior to joining Orson and Brusini Ltd. in 2016, Ms. Dufault was employed as a judicial law clerk for the Rhode Island Supreme Court Trial Court Law Clerk Department where she was assigned to the dispositive motion calendar. Every family has a different set of circumstances to be considered in their planning and Larry guides his clients through planning options to incorporate these unique circumstances into their estate plan. He prepares wills, trusts and incapacity documents, and advises high net worth clients in sophisticated estate and tax planning, including family limited partnerships and complex trusts.

Larry also handles estate and trust administration, representing fiduciaries in administering estates, trusts, and guardianships. He guides clients through the probate process and prepares estate and gift tax returns. Larry also represents both fiduciaries and beneficiaries in the proper administration of trusts and risk management.

Larry is an Emeritus member of the Zeiterion Theatre Board of Trustees in New Bedford, Massachusetts and is a Member of the Friends Academy Board of Trustees in Dartmouth Massachusetts.

Larry has an LL.M. in taxation from Boston University, and earned his law degree, with honors, as well as a master’s degree in environmental law from Vermont Law School. He earned his bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Rhode Island.

Larry is licensed to practice law in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He lives with his wife, three children and two dogs in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.
