Theodore Orson

Mr. Orson is a co-founder of the Providence, Rhode Island law firm of Orson and Brusini Ltd. He is admitted to the bars of Rhode Island and Massachusetts where he practices in the areas of municipal insolvency, business insolvency and commercial litigation. He has garnered national attention for his work as lead counsel to the Receiver of the City of Central Falls and the State of Rhode Island in the Chapter 9 case of the City of Centrals Falls. He also represents the State of Rhode Island in two pending hospital receiverships. He represents all types of parties to federal bankruptcy cases and state court receivership proceedings, including debtors, creditors and equity security holders. Mr. Orson has been appointed permanent receiver of over 40 Rhode Island companies by the Superior Court of the State of Rhode Island. He has also been appointed ancillary receiver by the superior courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Connecticut. Mr. Orson also lectures throughout the country on Chapter 9 bankruptcy. Stephen M. Brusini

Co-Founder of the firm, Mr. Brusini graduated from the College of the Holy Cross (B.A. 1988) and Cornell Law School (J.D. 1991). He also served as an economic policy intern at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Steve practices in the areas of corporate and business law, commercial transactions, business succession planning, employment law, administrative law, and real estate, and serves as general counsel to a number of Rhode Island and regional entities. He acted as a lobbyist for many years in the Rhode Island General Assembly and has authored numerous statutes and regulations. Steve also mediates business disputes and business aspects of domestic disputes and has received over 120 hours of mediation training, including 40 hours of advanced training at Harvard Law School’s Program on Mediation. He currently serves as Chair of the East Greenwich Planning Board. Steve is admitted to practice in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York, and before the U.S. District Courts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He is admitted to practice in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and before the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. John joined Orson and Brusini Ltd. in 2006 after practicing as an insurance defense litigator for 7 years. He continues to practice in the areas of insolvency, commercial and civil litigation, corporate and business law, employment law, environmental law, personal injury, and land use and zoning law. John has successfully represented clients before the Federal and State Courts of both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including successful appeals before the Rhode Island Supreme Court. In addition to his litigation experience, John is often appointed as a Receiver of insolvent entities wherein he has operated businesses as going concerns and liquidated assets for the benefit of creditors. John is also experienced in acting as a mediator to resolve business disputes. Michael has extensive experience in all areas of environmental law, including federal, state and local permitting associated with major commercial, industrial and manufacturing facilities; site remediation associated with soil, groundwater and natural resources; federal and state Brownfields site remediation and redevelopment; matters involving hazardous and solid waste management and disposal; matters involving water and air discharge; land-use planning and development; freshwater and coastal wetlands; permitting and development of energy projects, including those before the Energy Facilities Siting Board and matters involving regulatory compliance, enforcement and litigation. Richard H. Gregory III was born in Bronxville, New York in 1947. A Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude graduate of Amherst College, he subsequently earned a Doctor of Laws (JD) degree with honors from the University of Southern California Law Center in Los Angeles and a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. For six years, Mr. Gregory served as a trial attorney for the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, DC. In this position he represented the United States in tax controversies pending in various United States District Courts. After moving to Rhode Island, Mr. Gregory became a partner and chairman of the Tax Department of Tillinghast Collins & Graham. In 1994 he opened his own office for the practice of law to serve clients in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Ms. Harris graduated from Nazareth College (B.S. Business Administration and Marketing, magna cum laude, 2009) and from Roger Williams University School of Law (J.D., 2013). While at Roger Williams University School of Law, Christa was a member of the Moot Court Board and participated in several appellate advocacy competitions, including the Annual Esther Clark Moot Court Competition where she was awarded the “Best Brief Award” by the Rhode Island Supreme Court. Lynn Gifford Bria

Lynn Gifford Bria advises clients on estate, trust and philanthropic issues with a focus on preservation and protection of assets for intended beneficiaries. Her clients' plans include wills, trusts, lifetime gifts, charitable trusts and private foundations. She also advises executors and trustees as they navigate complex administration matters.

Lynn previously served as Vice President and Senior Trust Officer at a large banking and investment institution. There she exercised oversight of client accounts including revocable, irrevocable, and charitable trusts. Lynn's work for clients included estate tax planning and analysis of client objectives to plan overall trust accounting, distribution and cash management strategies for multiple generations.

Christa was also the Executive Chair of Finance of the Roger Williams University School of Law Moot Court Board, served as the President of the Sports and Entertainment Society at Roger Williams University School of Law and worked as an Assistant Coach for the Roger Williams University Women’s Softball Team.

Prior to joining Orson and Brusini, Ltd. in 2016, Ms. Harris practiced in the areas of insurance defense and other civil litigation matters, including premises liability, insurance coverage, products liability, and general liability. Christa is currently admitted to practice in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and before the United States District Courts for the Districts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She is also a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Christa currently practices in the areas of corporate and business law and commercial transactions.

Lynn Gifford Bria

Lynn Gifford Bria advises clients on estate, trust and philanthropic issues with a focus on preservation and protection of assets for intended beneficiaries. Her clients' plans include wills, trusts, lifetime gifts, charitable trusts and private foundations. She also advises executors and trustees as they navigate complex administration matters.

Lynn previously served as Vice President and Senior Trust Officer at a large banking and investment institution. There she exercised oversight of client accounts including revocable, irrevocable, and charitable trusts. Lynn's work for clients included estate tax planning and analysis of client objectives to plan overall trust accounting, distribution and cash management strategies for multiple generations.

Lynn is admitted to practice in the state and federal districts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She received her B.S. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law.

After retiring from a distinguished career as a professional figure skating coach, Ms. Dufault graduated from the University of Rhode Island (B.S. Business Administration, 2012) and from Roger Williams University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2015). During her time at Roger Williams University School of Law, Ms. Dufault served as President of the Moot Court Board; was a member of the 2014 Decanal Search Committee; was appointed by The Honorable Judge Judith Colenback Savage to serve as co-chairperson for the 2015 Law Review Symposium Steering Committee; and served as a judicial intern to The Honorable John J. McConnell, Jr., federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, and The Honorable Maureen McKenna Goldberg, Associate Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court.

Prior to joining Orson and Brusini Ltd. in 2016, Ms. Dufault was employed as a judicial law clerk for the Rhode Island Supreme Court Trial Court Law Clerk Department where she was assigned to the dispositive motion calendar. Danielle is currently admitted to practice in Rhode Island. She is also a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association. Danielle currently practices in the areas of corporate law and commercial transactions.
